It’s The True Blues Summer Supporter Fundraiser

We’ve read the news today, oh boy. What a mess.

Well, here’s where we, in our community of NYCFC supporters, can start doing something about it. And we need your help.

We at True Blues NYCFC strongly condemn the Supreme Court’s decision to undo Roe v Wade. Abortion is a fundamental human right, and the decisions of this undemocratic institution do not reflect our core values. In solidarity, True Blues NYCFC is collecting donations from fellow supporters to the National Network of Abortion Funds. NNAF builds power with members to remove financial and logistical barriers to abortion access by centering people who have abortions and organizing at the intersections of racial, economic, and reproductive justice.

Contribute to True Blues NYCFC’s donation by August 1st here:

Contribute directly to National Network of Abortion Funds here: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/supportabortionfunds

Find a local abortion fund here: https://abortionfunds.org/funds/

True Blues stands in support of anyone in need of an abortion, and believes abortion should be available on demand and without apology.

If our rights mean anything, then your community needs to be there to back each other up. That’s what we’re doing today, Champions.

or reach out to them if you can help out, need help in the South Bronx, or both. Being good neighbors means sharing burdens, and it’s past time we do our part.

Learn more about South Bronx Mutual Aid here http://www.motthavenherald.com/2020/12/11/22472/

December 24th: We reached $1113.00 from almost two dozen NYCFC supporters from all different group. And another NYCFC supporter made an additional donation to put South Bronx Mutual Aid over their yearly $5000.00 total goal! We’re very proud to stand with our neighbors and with every one of you.

Remember mutual aid isn’t charity: it’s all of us looking out for one another. We’ll all need to both give and receive help for different things at different times. If you’re in the South Bronx, please turn to South Bronx Mutual Aid to both help and when you need help in this impossible COVID mess.

Across NYC, turn to the NYC Mutual Aid clearinghouse that will find you resources and way that you can help.

AND FINALLY. NYCFC isn’t the owners, the player, the officials or the league. All of those have really let us down, some terribly, over the past years, and it’s made it impossible for some of you to even call yourselves supporters anymore. Please remember that we, the supporters, build our community. We can build better than some of the crap that’s been foisted on us. Let’s go into 2021 vowing to walk our values and build, together.

Happy New Year,

The True Blues NYCFC collective of supporters.

True Blues Statement 11/23/2020 : ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

Enough is enough.

NYCFC administration has fumbled yet another crucial test and it’s time for wholesale, public changes. We, like hundreds of other supporters, have lost confidence in the NYCFC front office’s ability to fix their workplace or their stadium. Many of the fans will just continue to drift away, as they have since 2016-17. We demand better.

Skyler Badillo’s allegations are serious, substantial, and to be believed. They relate not only to continual sexual harassment by David Villa, but sexual harassment by much of the fitness staff, with the knowledge of seemingly the entire first team and most of the front office. Ms. Badillo was also sexually assaulted within Yankee Stadium’s press room on a match day, resulting in an NYPD complaint, and no public acknowledgement by NYCFC.

To date, no one has been fired, and no public details of how NYCFC will fix this have been forthcoming. NYCFC’s legal counsel is accused of offering a financial settlement in return for the victim hiding the incidents. Everyone who knew about these events and covered them up, and especially the remaining employee accused of serial sexual harassment, needs to be terminated. Publicly. Immediately.

David Villa needs to be publicly condemned and the club needs to move on without him.

NYCFC must demonstrate, through actions and words, that it is a safe home for all supporters, community members, players at all levels, and staff. They have not so far provided this.

While Brad Sims’ repeated statements this year about ridding supporters groups of four years of violent fascist infiltration are welcomed, to date no public statements have shown how this will be accomplished once fans return, nor have we or any other concerned groups received any direct contact from NYCFC on how they will fix these problems, beyond emails from low level social media staff. Suggestions to them that the club must bring in outside anti-racist and anti-extremism training have gone nowhere since February 2020.

We do not yet know which individuals from these groups were banned, for what period, or what these bans entail. We do not know how NYCFC plans to reform supporters groups so that well documented far-right extremists and organized, violent outside groups will be permanently excluded. We do not know what measures will be taken to reform NYCFC gameday operations, who sat on this problem for four years.

This is clearly a pattern of behavior by the NYCFC front office, and it is unacceptable. Fans demand accountability and public, detailed plans to fix these self-inflicted PR disasters.

Take action now while there are still supporters to win back.

Press Release : True Blues NYCFC :: NYCFC inaction over fascist skinheads continues

Press Release : True Blues NYCFC :: NYCFC inaction over fascist skinheads continues
9  May 2019
Recently we’ve been sent this, “River Avenue Casuals” new ‘music’, urging folks to engage in violence at NYCFC matches. A territory they comfortably claim as their own.

Note this is Irv Antillon’s fascist Oi band, “Venganza Tatuada”, which has had shows shut down by antifascists, and does covers of songs by proudly neo-Nazi bands, like “Batallion 88” from France (the 88 is for “HH/Heil Hitler”) https://nycantifa.wordpress.com/2010/10/06/neo-nazi-show-in-nyc-shut-it-down/  Irv Antillon was among the 11 “Proud Boys” charged with assault in the late 2018 rally in Manhattan, called to commemorate the anniversary of the murder of a Japanese socialist politician. To date, several extreme right activists seen participating in both this and the August 2017 Charlottesville fascist march, still regularly attend NYCFC matches in the “supporters section”, specifically in the sections inhabited by the officially recognized “New York City Supporters Club/Templados” supporters group. These groups continue to receive special permissions and tickets from the team’s management.
The people who identify with this “River Avenue Casuals” organization (which borrows it’s acronym from the famous Nazi band Skrewdriver’s preferred name for their music, RAC) are easily identifiable from their social media and in the stadium, while many members publicly identify themselves as such there and elsewhere. Several of us have repeatedly sent NYCFC’s head of operations and other executives details about this, who these people are, and evidence that they are both Nazis, have engaged in all sorts of threats and violence, and are using Yankee Stadium as a recruiting ground for fascist politics and their “211 skinheads” gang, over almost a year. Heads of NYCSC and Templados have been warned about this, publicly and privately, continually, since 2015.
So far there is almost zero action on this, and members if these groups, working with official supporters group NYCSC/Templados, continue to attend matches home and away.

True Blues Statement 3/9/2019

Ahead of New York City FC’s home opener on Sunday, March 10th, True Blues NYCFC remains committed to the fight against hate and bigotry at our football club. We would like to commend the Third Rail for its pledge of solidarity and its efforts to ensure football truly is for everyone, and also NYCFC broadcaster Ian Joy, who stated that he will not align himself with an organization that tolerates fascism, racism, sexism, and homophobia.

Recent statements by NYCFC, MLS Commissioner Don Garber, and New York City Supporters Club do not go far enough to counteract these threats to our club. These issues have been ignored for too long. As many as 40,000 New Yorkers call Yankee Stadium home on NYCFC match days. We come from all backgrounds and beliefs. Those who can’t accept that have no place here. We must continue to speak out, and the club must take action to end these threats once and for all before they spread even further.

The club should immediately revoke official status and all attendant privileges from NYCSC as long as it protects or even tolerates members of hate groups. NYCSC should immediately denounce these individuals and rescind any existing memberships of such individuals. NYCFC should immediately revoke the season tickets of any individuals associated with hate groups.

True Blues calls on all NYCFC fans to demand better from their club and their fellow fans. We demand a club representative of the diversity of New York City– anything less is a failure.

TRUE BLUES: WE’RE HERE TO STAY!

All our eyes are on Atlanta today. Our members, traveling with the club and here, believe in our boys in blue. We want the cup. And we want to be as proud of our supporters groups as we are of our players.

We thank the club for banning far-right skinhead Irvin Antillon, and hope that ban is permanent. But he is still attending supporters events outside the stadium and is welcomed by supporters groups that receive special privileges from the club and MLS. His fellow hate group activists are still allowed in our stadium.

We want Nazis and documented members of hate groups out of our club.
We want the people who protected them and gave them a home to NEVER have the ability to do that again.

All NYCFC supporters and supporters of MLS clubs need to inform the club and league that this is unacceptable.

1) All documented 211 Crew Skinheads, Proud Boys and other documented hate group activists need to be banned from NYCFC. Now. Permanently.

2) NYCSC & Templados have proven they cannot police themselves, having welcomed, protected, and celebrated hate group activists for years now. If you’re a member of these groups, your leaders have let you, and all supporters, down. They need to do something substantial to prove they can in the future. Until they make amends, they cannot be allowed special privileges by the club and MLS, which other NYCFC supporters are not accorded.

3) NYCFC club operations has failed to inform themselves and when informed failed to take decisive action against hate groups in the stands. NYCFC needs to release a plan to prevent this ever happening again. The current standard of “everyone’s fine as long as they behave inside matches” is not sufficient and has allowed violent bigots in our matches.

Let’s fix this and get back to football!

Since 2015 we’ve had a problem, one that no one will talk about.
In 2015 and again in 2016 quiet pressure and club action managed to expel and ban the small group of nazis and bigots, connected with the skinhead “211 Crew” from our stadium. “White power” stickers, losing brawls, and intimidation did them in.

But some supporters groups got lazy and decided having a couple of tough looking friends was more important than standing up for a basic belief in inclusion for all. Just because these guys held their tongue at matches, some were willing to look the other way when they marched with the KKK at Charlottesville or attacked people at far-right rallies in NYC streets.
But now it changes.

Thirty thousand New Yorkers call NYCFC home. We come from all backgrounds and beliefs. People who can’t accept that have no place here.

We must speak, and the club must take action to end this once and for all. And those who have defended these bigots must be shown the door.

Call and email your ticket representative, talk to your friends, look out for your neighbors in the stadium, and demand this ends for good.

NYCFC is the community who cheer them on. We all say no bigots in our stadium. Then let’s get back to football.
